Bhuragaon College is one of the pioneer higher education institutions in the district of Morigaon, Assam. The College is located to the north, approximately 20 kilometers, from the district headquarters of Morigaon, lying quite adjacent to the Brahmaputra River which is hardly 300 meters away. Despite having innumerable hurdles and financial setbacks, the College can keep pace with the changing educational scenario that augments promises for aspirants to a new dawn of knowledge every day and every moment. The College was established on 20th February 1988. It has 20 bighas of land to accommodate any spacious educational infrastructure with the serene atmosphere that flows within from the longest northeastern river, the Brahmaputra. The College is working as a catalyst in offering a platform to cater to the social, educational, and psychological needs of the region which is marked by its multi-lingual and multi-cultural nature. Established some 35 years ago when barely there were more than two higher education institutions in Morigaon district, Bhuragaon College has been continuously and relentlessly developing and has been trying to keep its promises to disseminate knowledge and filter that to wisdom among every young aspirant to this beautiful abode for learning. The College would not have been in its present status, had there been no contributions by the then-learning enthusiasts such as the Late Upendra Narayan Singh, Anand Mohan, Late Abdul Jalil, Manabendra Saha, Mihiram Bora, Sri Madharam kakati, and lot more others all of whose names I cannot mention here because of the paucity of space, but can remember with appropriate respect and reverence. A college that is haunted more than twice by the flash-flood of the Brahmaputra River which makes it impossible for any greeneries to grow on the campus, and still not to falter but to stand straight, is sufficient to prove its priceless efforts to sacrifice for a mission of extending its support to the needy who are more often from the extremely poorer section of the society. The College though in a humble stage today even, yet it sustains to operate with its examination center and offers almost all the Arts subjects such as English, Assamese, Economics, Education, Political Science, History that have Honours courses, and Philosophy, Geography, and Arabic which have Regular or General courses. Besides having these, our college also takes its pleasure to announce the introduction of Distance Learning courses from The IDOL which run parallel with Regular courses under Gauhati University. Besides, our college offers the Scouts & Guides program as a certificate course to help secure government jobs for young aspirants.
Provincialization of the College in January 2021 proves a milestone moment for us. The college family is marching for goals that have remained unattained owing to geographical and financial setbacks. The College is a blooming ground for every student from diverse linguistic and cultural backgrounds, the uplifting for which generous hands came out with utmost philanthropy, I sincerely thank those graceful souls and individuals from the bottom of my heart and wish for all the success of Bhuragaon college in coming future.
